Yeah, you could drive down the block to your local burger or BBQ joint and grab something filling, but while it may sate your stomach, it won’t sate your soul. The “$100 Hamburger Runs” aren’t about the food (though it tends to be tastier the farther you flew to get it), it’s about the experience surrounding it. Airport Diner, Fredericksburg, TXMade to look like a classic 1940's diner, the Airport Diner is located adjacent to the Gillespie County Airport (T82) parking ramp. Breakfast lovers can pick among migas, flapjacks, waffles and more, while those ready for lunch can opt for meatloaf, half-pound hamburgers, rib-eye steak or other savory eats. They're open Thursday through Sunday, but you'll want to get there early since they close at 2 PM.

Angelina County Airport Cafe, Lufkin, TXThe Angelina County Airport (KLFK) boasts a cafe and grill that's become a popular burger spot. Combine that with the airport's seven approaches and two runways (RW 7/25 is 5,398' x 100' and RW 16/34 is 4,309' x 100') and you can see why people enjoy coming here to train or simply stop by.

Black Walnut Cafe, Conroe, TXThe Black Walnut Cafe at Conroe North Houston Regional Airport (KCXO) is open Wednesday- Sunday, 8 AM to 3 PM. While their opening hours are limited, their menu is not. Offering everything from omelets to enchiladas, chicken parmesan to brisket burgers, there is going to be something on the menu for everyone in your party to enjoy.

Black's Barbecue, Lockhart, TXLocated just 2.7 miles north of Lockhart Municipal Airport, Black's Barbecue has been serving up beef brisket, smoked turkey, pork spare ribs, barbecue chicken and more since 1932. Open Monday - Thursday 7 AM - 2 PM, Friday 7 AM - 9 PM, Saturday 8 AM - 2 PM and Sunday 7 AM - 2 PM. Ruffo's Kitchen, Tyler, TXStop by the Tyler Pounds Regional Airport (KTYR) to check out the Historic Aviation Memorial Museum and stop by Ruffo's Kitchen Fresh Mex located near the airport at 700 Skyway Blvd, Ste. 105. Better get there early though, as they're only open Monday-Friday 9 AM to 1 PM. If you make it too late, fret not, you can pick from a slew of other eateries in the area here.
